We are pleased to present Jack Hughes, a new addition to the YCN roster, and look forward to working with him soon.
Introducing his work, Jack says that 'as clichéd as it sounds, music is possibly the biggest inspiration in my life. I listen to a lot of electronica, so it’s nice to have that on in the background, influencing me on a subconscious level while I work away. Old footage of absolutely anything captures my attention- anything to do with space, the moon, stars and science gets me pretty excited too, which is probably why BBC Four is permanently on my television, even if it is on mute.
People also inspire me- I think my last year at Kingston was quite special, as never before have my peers inspired me as much as then. Working alongside fellow illustrators and animators on collaborative projects was an exciting period and something I’d definitely like to continue doing.
In my work I find myself exploring human nature through a diagrammatic, sci-fi inspired manner, using science and space as language to produce something ominous, graphic and hopefully beautiful.'
Check out his portfolio here.
